Understanding exercise behaviors is essential for promoting a healthy lifestyle and developing targeted fitness programs. In this survey, we aim to gain comprehensive insights into the exercise behaviors of Vietnamese people. The survey was conducted among a large sample of 1,406 respondents who engage in regular exercise. By exploring their preferences, habits, and motivations, we can better tailor fitness offerings to meet their needs and promote a culture of active living.

I.Vietnamese Fitness Behaviors

a) Fitness Preferences: Among Vietnamese respondents, fitness activities emerged as the top choice for exercise, with 58% selecting it as their preferred option. Walking and running were identified as the most favored activities, highlighting the popularity of outdoor workouts. Sports followed closely behind, with 37% of respondents engaging in activities such as football and badminton. Martial arts, although less popular, were still practiced by 11% of respondents, demonstrating a niche interest in disciplines like taekwondo and karate.

b) Objectives of Exercise: Vietnamese individuals engage in exercise for various reasons, driven by multiple objectives. The top five objectives identified in the survey include strengthening bones, reducing stress, managing weight loss, improving sleep patterns, and boosting productivity. It is evident that Vietnamese individuals recognize the multifaceted benefits associated with regular exercise, emphasizing the holistic approach to health and well-being.

c) Supporting Healthy Habits: In addition to exercise, respondents also prioritize other healthy habits that complement their fitness routines. Eating a healthy diet emerged as a top priority for 60% of respondents, followed by drinking more water and fewer sugary drinks (54%), and prioritizing sufficient sleep (51%). These habits align with their exercise routines, contributing to better overall physical well-being and fostering a comprehensive approach to health.

d) Preferred Exercise Venues: Public places emerged as the most popular venues for fitness activities, chosen by 46% of respondents. Local gyms followed closely with 33% of respondents preferring them. The factors that influenced the choice of exercise venues included a comfortable atmosphere, proximity to their homes, and flexible timing. The preference for public spaces suggests a desire for outdoor activities and a connection to nature while engaging in exercise.

II.Fitness and Sport Watching Behaviors

a) Online Video Consumption: An overwhelming majority of respondents (90%) reported watching online videos related to sports or fitness. Among those who consumed such content, YouTube emerged as the preferred platform, chosen by 78% of respondents. This highlights the significant role that online platforms play in disseminating fitness-related content, providing valuable workout lessons, coaching, and inspiring individuals to maintain an active lifestyle.

b) Favorite Sports and Fitness to Watch: Football emerged as the most popular sport to watch among respondents, with 47% expressing their preference for it. Badminton and cycling followed closely, with 31% and 28% of respondents favoring these activities, respectively. This demonstrates the interest in both team sports and individual fitness pursuits among Vietnamese viewers, indicating a diverse range of sporting preferences within the population.

In conclusion, by understanding the exercise behaviors and preferences of Vietnamese individuals, fitness providers, health organizations, and policymakers can develop targeted strategies to promote physical activity, enhance the accessibility of exercise facilities, and encourage a culture of active living throughout the country.
